Do I need to bring anything special to the training sessions?

In addition to any training equipment, you will need to bring your pass for that day’s training.   Passes will be different each day, so make sure you have the right one with you.   Passes will be available for pickup when you check in at TaiKai Registration.   Please safeguard them carefully.   Each person will only be given one set and we would hate for you to miss any of the events.

I would like to buy training-related gear at the seminar.   Will there be items for sale?

There will be items available for purchase at the TaiKai.   (Ex: TaiKai USA and other T-Shirts, TaiKai DVD sets, other training-related gear)   The selection of items will depend on the vendors participating.   Oftentimes, training events like the TaiKai are the best place to find good training gear.

Vendors:   There are a limited number of tables available.   If you would like to have a table, please contact the TaiKai ahead of time to make arrangements.   Click Here for more info.

Will the training area be air-conditioned?

Yes - Weather in Atlanta can be warm. :)   (See the question on Atlanta weather for details & weather link.)   We have also arranged with the hotel to provide water stations for us during training.

Can I take pictures and/or videos of TaiKai USA?

Videotaping, digital recording, filming, or any other type of electronic or other media duplication of TaiKai USA is not allowed.   DVDs of the training will be available to attendees of the event.

Previous TaiKai USA DVD sets have all been professionally filmed and edited, and turned out incredibly well.   A limited number of copies of previous TaiKai USA multiple-DVD sets will be available at TaiKai USA 2017.

Photography of any type during training is not allowed.   Pictures may be taken before or after training or during breaks.   Please refrain from taking pictures until then. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

*Please note: The official TaiKai USA photographers are the one exception to these rules.   They will be taking pictures periodically throughout the training, and have special permission to take pictures, operating under guidelines given to them by TaiKai USA.

Is it okay for a spouse or friend to watch the training?

Due to the limited amount of training space, and to be fair to the people who paid to attend, this will not be possible.   There are many activities and events in the Atlanta area for family and friends to enjoy while they are visiting, such as:   Stone Mountain Park, Six Flags over Georgia amusement park, the Georgia Aquarium, shopping , etc.   Click Here for a more complete list and more info.

Another great idea is to bring them with you to the dinner on Saturday night!

The Westin Peachtree Plaza also provides a webpage listing local attractions.   Click Here to view the hotel's page.

General Questions

I’d like to come, but I’ve only been training a short time - Is TaiKai USA open only to certain ranks? Or do I have to already be training in the Bujinkan to attend?

TaiKai USA is absolutely open to all ranks and levels of experience, as well as to martial artists from other systems.   Everyone will learn and benefit from the training, and everyone is encouraged to come and train.

Will there be a banquet or dinner at TaiKai USA?

As has now become the custom, TaiKai USA 2017 will have a dinner event on Saturday night!   Getting together and socializing with old friends - and new friends - is one of the great things about this kind of training event.   The Atlanta Dojo has always fostered a 'family' feeling and environment in our training and dojo, and we bring that atmosphere to our events.   As your hosts, we hope you can attend TaiKai USA and become part of that feeling also!

We will be making arrangements for the dinner with a local restaurant.   As we've done in the past few years, you'll be able to order from the menu and choose what you like to eat and how much you want to spend.   Check back again for more information as it becomes available.

What should I bring with me to Atlanta?

Bring appropriate clothing for 3 days of martial arts training and for leisure activities;   Money for food, lodging, transportation and other activities;   Any Registration materials (see above), and training equipment - such as a wooden training sword and/or shinai, hanbo, wooden training knife, and whatever additional training equipment you may need.   There will also be a limited selection of training gear available for sale, as well as TaiKai USA t-shirts.

Is there anything I should NOT bring with me?

*Please DO NOT bring live weapons of any sort with you into training - including firearms, knives, live swords, explosive devices, etc.

What is the weather like in Atlanta?

Atlanta weather in spring and summer can be warm and humid – Day temperatures can be as high as F: 90’s (C: 30+) and night temperatures may be around F: 60’s (C: ~15).   That’s why we’re training inside! :)   Click Here for Atlanta weather forecast information.
